Israel-Day4-Tel Dan

The weather forecast said rain almost every day we were there, but this was the only day it rained and it added to the experience. We hiked along the Jordan River to Tel Dan.

It's only fitting that I include a picture of Dan F. on our way to Tel Dan. Most of the path we hiked was like this. This was one of the highlights of the trip for me.

This is the ancient site of the Danites. They were actually given land by Tel Aviv but they were constantly fighting the Philistines so they sent out spies to find an easier place to live. The spies did an excellent job of finding a beautiful place.

From Tel Dan there is an excellent view of Lebanon which has 40,000 rockets pointed at Israel. According to our guide, we were safe since they'd just go right over our heads. Comforting for that day at least.

The Canaanite Gate, "Gate of Three Arches", from around 2000 BC.
