Israel-Day2-Caesarea

Roman aqueduct which brought water to Caesarea from the Carmel mountain range.

Entering Caesarea's National Park. Acts mentions Caesarea the most.
Acts 10: After Peter's vision in Joppa, he came here to see Cornelius the Centurion and he shares the gospel with Gentiles. In a nutshell, this is the place the first non-Jews are welcomed into God's family and given the Holy Spirit. WOOHOO!
Acts 12: Peter's miraculous escape from prison.
Acts 25: Paul was also imprisoned here, shared the gospel with King Agrippa, and then was sent to Rome.

The Romans built theaters first so that the legionaries (soldiers) would be assured of their entertainment. This theater was built in 13 BC.

A view of the arena. The olympic games were held here. Apparently the silver and bronze medal was started at this arena. They would light a torch to Zeus before the games began. 20,000 Christians and 20,000 Jews were killed here. Thumbs up meant that whoever was being made sport of got to live.

What's left of the pool.
